The story of Shunya
“Shaped around nothing, and full of calm.”
Shunya is the idea of emptiness — not as absence, but as the open, quiet space from which clarity begins. The forms are built around their voids: openings that let the wall, the light and the room become part of the piece.
Each is hand-shaped from acacia, and the grain moves around the openings like a slow breath. Nothing is added that does not need to be there.
Shunya brings stillness and peace to a space. It asks very little of a room, and gives it a centre.
In the light
I
The material
Acacia wood, shaped by hand. Each form is carved, sanded and finished so the grain follows the line of the piece.
II
Its character
Grain, tone and texture vary from piece to piece, so yours will differ slightly from the photographs. These variations are not flaws — they make it yours alone.
III
Care
Made for dried and preserved botanicals only. Keep away from water, moisture and direct heat. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
How to style Shunya
Let the empty spaces speak. Use the pieces bare, or with a single fine stem in one of them. They look most striking in a row on a long surface, with breathing room between each form.
